Johan Bradley is the Managing Director of SRK’s offices in Sweden and Finland. He is a Principal Geologist with over 15 years of experience in the mining industry. Johan has managed a number of due diligence audits, multi-disciplinary studies and technical valuations for SRK’s clients, principally in the Nordic Region and Greenland, including those in support of public disclosure requirements and stock exchange listings in the UK, Canada and Australia.
Prior to joining SRK Johan worked as an exploration geologist in the Fennoscandian Shield, Saudi Arabia and Western Australia, where he was involved in the design, supervision and management of grass-roots to pre-feasibility stage projects for a range of commodities including gold, diamonds, base metals and industrial minerals prospects.
Principal Rock Mechanics Engineer - David Saiang
David is a rock mechanics engineer with a background in both mining and geotechnical engineering. He has over 20 years of experience in mining, academic research and consulting. David holds a Ph.D. in Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering and Technical Licentiate in Rock Mechanics.
David’s main technical competency is in the area of geotechnical modelling of various mining and civil engineering problems, both in 2-D and 3-D. He has over 15 years of experience using Itasca and Rocscience codes for geotechnical studies and has developed specialist skills in numerical modelling with these codes.
He was also trained in Tokyo with the Japanese Department of Transport and the Japanese Geotechnical Society in Underground Construction Technology for urban areas. As a researcher, David has published several papers and articles in the field of rock mechanics for journals and conferences and has extensive knowledge in rock mass characterization and assessment for design of rock constructions.
Presently he is also actively involved in research related to deep underground excavations with Luleå University of Technology.
Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer - Michael Di Giovinazzo
Michael Di Giovinazzo is a rock mechanics engineer with over 14 years’ experience in hard rock underground and open cut mining. He is a Member of the AusIMM and holds a GCertEng in Mining Geomechanics (with graduation to MEng expected in 2015) as well as BSc in Applied Geology.
Michael’s rock mechanics engineering experience spans over 11 years’ across underground and surface mining operations, operational geotechnical team leading, and feasibility studies. He joined SRK in September 2013 from Australia where he was most recently Principal Geotechnical Engineer for Newcrest Mining at the Telfer Gold Operation including deep SLC, two open cuts, cave-pit interaction, and open stoping. Prior to this, he held Senior level roles covering geotechnical planning and guidance of numerous brownfields underground and open cut projects.
Specialisations include operations support, geotechnical risk management, rock mass classification, underground mine design (Sub-level Cave; Room & Pillar; Open Stoping), slope design and optimisation, underground and open pit interaction, static and dynamic ground support design, ground monitoring design and installation, ground monitoring data interpretation, seismic hazard management, and numerical modelling in 2D and elastic 3D.
Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer - Pekka Bergström
Pekka Bergström is a rock mechanics engineer with over 20 years’ experience in hard rock mining industry (open pit & underground) including over 10 year’ experience working in deep high stress mines in Finland and Australia. He holds Graduate Certificate Engineering in Mine Design and Planning as well as MSc in geology and Mineralogy and diploma in mining and quarrying.
After first working as mine geologist at Tara Mines in Ireland, he held several positions as a mine geologist, mining engineer and geotechnical engineer in Australia. He worked as a geotechnical engineer in several deep high stress mines in Broken Hill, NSW and Kalgoorlie, WA. During recent years, Pekka worked as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at the Pyhäsalmi Mine, Finland. Pekka Bergström joined SRK in February 2015.
Specialisations include mine operations support, ground support designs, underground mine design, seismic monitoring and seismic hazard management, geotechnical monitoring systems design and installation and drill and blast designs in underground / open pit hard rock mines.
Consultant Resource Geologist - Aleksandr Mitrofanov
Aleksandr has over 6 years of employment in the mining sector. He has experience in exploration, geological modelling and resource estimation. Since joining SRK Consulting, Aleksandr’s responsibilities have included resource estimation, geological/structural 3D modelling and preparation of geological chapters for 43-101 and JORC-code reports from Scoping Study to Feasibility Study level.
Prior to joining SRK, Aleksandr worked as an exploration and resource geologist for Barrick Gold Corporation in Russia, where he was involved in the design, supervision and management of several exploration projects.
Aleksandr holds a Ph. D. in Economic Geology, he is a member of AusIMM. He is proficient in Leapfrog, Datamine, Isatis and Surpac software packages.
Senior Consultant Geochemistry - Päivi Picken
Päivi Picken has 18 years´ work experience in environmental geology, with focus on geochemistry. Päivi has extensive experience in opening, developing and closing industrial operations in several European countries.
Päivi has been working with mine waste characterisation, including predictive evaluations and management of historical mining waste. She has experience in mine closure and environmental monitoring of closed mines. She has worked with after-use of peat extraction areas, remediation of industrial and metal contaminated sites. Päivi has also been involved with management of acid sulphate soils. Her roles in reclamation work have varied from practical implementation project management to technical advisory and policy writing.
Päivi has wide experience in geochemistry of peatlands, including wetland applications in waste water treatment. She has also worked with other water treatment systems for both metal and nutrient contamination.
Päivi has experience in soil quality baseline assessments. She also has carried out detailed physical and chemical characterisations for mineral and organic soils, by-products and composted organic waste. These studies have served for example planning waste rock dump covers and commercial production of growing media. Päivi has also been involved with greenhouse gas impact evaluations related to land-use changes.
GIS and spatial analysis have been important tools in almost all of Päivi´s work areas. She also has experience in permitting and environmental impact assessments in Nordic Region. She has participated to national guideline writing and international branch specific policy making. She has followed European environmental legislation development for example from industrial branch organisations’ perspective. Päivi has specialist experience in cross-border environmental issues. In addition, Päivi has acted as a lecturer for various courses, workshops, conferences and site visits, mainly as a part of in-house company training concerning industry-specific environmental and geochemical issues.
